It’s just a 2×2 square with room underneath for words. You can do anything with it;
here’s a picture of my kids/dog/cat, aren’t they cute
here’s another of my feet, I am here
this is what I’m wearing today, looking good
this is a beautiful sunset, wish you were here
here’s what I ate, delicious
here’s a mountaintop view, isn’t our world beautiful
ooooh, look at this flower…
It’s just a 2×2 square that you could fill with any kind of thing, but I have seen some of the most beautiful images, paired with some of the most thoughtful and thought-provoking words. I’ve laughed, cried, felt connected to a total stranger, and have had my perspective shifted to a wider view of the possibilities of human connection. Like many, I’ve posted proof that I exist, and have seen that mirrored back at me with a feed full of #selfies, #widn shots, and the always enjoyable #tbt.
It’s just a 2×2 square, on a phone, in my hand, and just like any other social media tool, some argue it’s filled with seemingly meaningless photos of flowers and food and feet. But, it’s also a place many of us choose to express ourselves and connect through our pictures and words. And, I think we choose this because, really, that’s what we’re all looking for anyway, a place to share what we love with others that might just love the same thing, even if it is a shot of our feet, declaring, “I am here”.
