Our Collective—part Shutter Sisters, part Camera Men—was born out of a desire to bring a community of like-minded and like-hearted people together in a new way. Togetherness—in life, in love and in photography—was the impetus of Our Collective.
Founded by Tracey Clark and Henry Lohmeyer, X : Our Collective Offering became the tangible expressions of a focus on togetherness; a creative collaboration of sisters and brothers. X began as an exclusively downloadable monthly publication and in June 2013 was translated into an online offering. Still holding onto a slower-paced, more mindful sensibility, our content—compiled of curated images and essays from our community—was updated monthly until September 2015, to create what it is here; more of a magazine than a blog. During that time we also featured some of our favorite images through our Instagram feed. The words and images that were shared during our years together remain here to enjoy and reflect on. Consider X as an opportunity to slow down, exhale, and breathe in all the things that continue to soothe Our Collective soul; photography, stories, poetry, love, and community.
On our contributors page you’ll find photographers from Our Collective community that shared their stories with us for X. It’s an extraordinary collection of people who are doing wonderfully creative and deeply meaningful things in the world. We encourage you to not only read their stories here but to click through to their personal sites and projects for even more inspiration.
Although no longer an active project, we do believe that Our Collective will always serve as a testament to the inspiration that can come from collaborating, shooting, sharing and being together.
